About Ryan T Malone

Ryan T Malone - See Bright Victoria! So, you have wandered into this site that goes by the name of See Bright Victoria, it looks interesting, and you want to know who has the brains behind this crazy little project. That would me me. Mr Ryan T Malone. I’m about to tell you a bit about my story, just to help you get acquainted to exactly what it is that I am trying to do here. So… here goes…

At the time of me writing this rather strange little bio, I am on the verge of turning 28 (at the time of this being written). What a great birthday present! I get to launch See Bright Victoria for you!

Anyway, to cut all the boring bits out, some of my earliest memories in my life involve me camping out in the Bogong High Plains, and staying over the summer in the Bright district. Although there are many times that I as taken to this area long before my first memories (being bottle fed on the side of Mt Loch near Mt Hotham), it was always obvious in those long family debates about where to holiday that particular summer, that somewhere near Bright was always going to come out on top. It was always unanimous.

In my 28 years, I have stayed many places in the Bright area (I’m an avid camper by the way, I love roughing it up!), and have climbed almost all of the high mountain peaks that rise above the town. I have driven to Bright, I have traveled by train, and I have even hitch hiked. There is simply an unlimited amount of ways to enjoy Bright in Victoria.

Now, when we would go hiking, myself and my father (this was a usual occurrence for any hike that we did together!) would consistently argue over which peak was which, and this would result in, what I affectionately have come to refer to as, “The map and compass wars”. We have done this in NSW, in Victoria, and even in the depth of the Tasmanian wilderness, however, even at the age of 9 years old, I was always capable of winning every time. (Sorry Dad, you know it’s true!).

So, where did this love come from, apart from the fact that this is how I was bought up? Maybe it had something to do with the food in the area, the lovely people (who still serve you petrol without you getting out of the car in Bright mind you!), or maybe my family heritage which is deeply rooted in the Wraiths and Ellinghams of Harrietville. Who knows, however, the one thing that I know is that this website is something that I thought of a long time ago during an interesting storm that occurred in Harrietville (read the blog post here), and since then, after about three attempts at launching this idea, here I am now with See Bright Victoria.

I currently live in a semi rural township on the outskirts of Melbourne with my partner (who I hope you all get to meet soon!), and I have huge plans for this website.
