The climate of this area is quite varies, with heavy frosts in Winter, a frost free period in Spring, high tempretures in Summer with lovely cooling valley breezes in the afternoon, and a slight increase in rainfall and frost in Winter. With long daylight hours in the area, this area has a fairly consistent climate compared to that on the other side of the great divide.

Tempretures are generally about two degrees cooler than those in Wangaratta, with temperatures decreasing at higher altitudes. The variation between the weather in the valleys can be high, when it is stormy in the valley, weather is often picture perfect in the High Country. Needless to say, forecasts in the higher attitude regions can be quite hard to determine, and are highly unpredictable.
