Finding Something To Do In Bright
If you have ever been to Bright in Victoria in peak season, you will notice one thing very quickly. Finding something to do in Bright is quite easy! There are many people of all ages from all across Australia who take the time to come to Bright. So, what does this have to say about this lovely little gem at the foot of the high country? Simple… there is something for absolutely everyone in Bright!
One of the great things about Bright is that it is located between two major National Parks, Alpine National Park, and Mt Buffalo National Park. Both parks offer a wide variety of activities such as hiking, short day walks, photography, and even some of the more extreme air adventures to get your heart racing such as Hangliding, Microflighting, and Paragliding.
Lets not forget Four Wheel Driving, and the fantastic 4WD trails near Bright and Porepunkah. With many tracks available, with a select few also suitable for the colder winter conditions, its no wonder why amongst the many people that visit the area, its very common to see a good handful of Four Wheel Drives in the area that look like they have had a good run in the mud.
Fishing is a favorite hobby amongst locals and tourists, with the Ovens River, the Kiewa River, Lake Buffalo, and the Buckland River providing great places to catch some trout either by fly, bait, or spinning. Luckily enough, there are ample fishing supplies in Bright, and of course, the chance to purchase a fishing license, which is mandatory for those above the age of 18.
Lets not forget my personal favorite hobby while we are at it, and that is hiking. Climbing the local peaks and walking the High Country. For me, nothing beats that kind of seclusion and tranquility. The exhilaration of standing on top of Victorias highest peaks, and the peace and quiet of camping in a secluded valley on the river before a long day scaling a peak. Nothing comes quite close, although this is not exactly an activity for the unfit or those who are afraid of heights.
I could continue writing a 30 page essay on exactly how much there is to do in Bright, however I will leave the discovery up to you. Feel free to browse the below links to see what else there is to do in Bright Victoria!
